The Department of Mechanical Engineering at the Cape Peninsula University of Technology (CPUT), in conjunction with DLIST invite applications from suitably qualified or experienced individuals to pursue a distance learning degree-level course in Environmental Engineering.. This course is also offered as an elective to contact students doing the B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering at CPUT.

The course will run from January 2013 until June 2013. Further details on topics, assessments, etc. are available under courses. The total distance learning fee for 2013 will be R3350. Please submit applications on the CPUT application form directly to the course co-ordinator (I. Omar; e-mail: omari@cput.ac.za; fax: +27 86 759 9808) by 31 August 2012. The CPUT application form can be obtained at http://www.dlist-benguela.org/document-library/cput-application-form-201.... Only pages 1-4 of the application need to be completed, and copies of ID, school-leaving and other certificates or qualifications need to be sent. Proof of payment of the prescribed non-refundable application fee of R100 into the CPUT account specified on the application form should accompany all other documentation to be sent by 31 August this year(2012) . Please add “DLIST” to your deposit slip as reference.

In addition, individuals applying for the course should send a short (no more than one typed page) motivation to the course co-ordinator by 31 August 2012, summarising their background, work experience, academic history, skills and competencies, and specifically motivating why they should be considered for entry to the course.

Please note that there are several assessments that need to be done during the course of the semester, comprising two short introductory tasks, four longer assignments, a project, and a final test. The tasks, assignments and project will have specific due dates and need to be submitted electronically via e-mail, while the final test will be written at CPUT (Bellville) and the Polytech of Namibia (Windhoek) during the latter part of May/early June next year. If you believe you will not able to meet the course requirements regarding assessment submissions due to work commitments (field trips, etc.), please note that you should not consider doing the course as we will not entertain special requests for extensions or late submissions. For students who are not residents of South Africa or Namibia, please note that you will have to write the final test under supervision at work. Please identify if this is possible before you apply to do the course as we will need to liaise with your supervisor next year when the course approaches completion. No exceptions will be entertained regarding the assessments and final test.

We look forward to your participation on the course next year!

Regards
The DLIST Team
